We are F.I.G.H.T.

F.I.G.H.T. was started by a group of Asian & Pacific Islander (API) men who were at one time incarcerated in the Washington State prison system.  F.I.G.H.T. is a direct outgrowth of the organizing that many of us did through different API groups in different prisons.  This organizing built  deep bonds of unity among us.  Together we learned about our own diverse cultures and political histories, life experiences and perspectives. We also created cultural celebrations featuring various forms of celebrations featuring various forms of traditional arts, like language, music and dance.

Upon being released, we stayed committed to continuing to support each other, whether inside or outside of the prison system.  We support both current and formerly incarcerated APIs through mentoring, advocacy, outreach, and political education.  We encourage each other to embrace positivity, compassion, strength, hope, confidence, building healthy lives and health communities, while breaking the cycle of mass incarceration.

Core Values

After a period of incarceration one needs the support of their family, friends, and community. This is not always the case but you can count on use to help in your transition.

Education is a right that each individual has regardless of race, color, gender, or nationality. We strive to help educate the people in need.

F.I.G.H.T. will always champion for our people and people of other races. Some don’t have a voice but F.I.G.H.T. will be sure that your voice is heard, it must be heard to make a difference.

Added Values

At F.I.G.H.T. we believe that the individual has added value even though they might not think so. Each person has their unique skill set and we encourage people to bring them to the table so that we may better each other.

Community Service

F.I.G.H.T. believes that we owe it to our community to serve and to foster peace among all people of color.

The community must be informed of new and existing events and services that are available. We will do our best to bring awareness to our communities and to the people of these communities.

It is easy to start a project but it is hard to do it well. Well, not for us.
